With his duo he signed to the label that would be his home for most of his career, Studio One, and after the duo came to an end at the start of the 1970's, he became one of the label's go to guys, doing everything from session drumming to fronting groups like Generation Gap and Soul Syndicate for the label. In the mid-1970's however, McGregor made two choices that would change his life forever, first, he converted to Rastafari in 1975, and shortly afterwards began his solo career in earnest, releasing his debut solo album “Bobby Bobylon” in 1979, fifteen years after his career in music began, despite only being 23 years old.

Freddie McGregor (born 27 June 1956, Clarendon, Jamaica) has been variously a singer, musician and producer. His music career began when he was seven years old.
